<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This last one is a photo from my design wall. It also has a donated teatowel in the middle and is an Anzac Biscuit recipe on it.... so all the fabric is food related... Maroons, Cupcakes, Coffee, Corn, Peas & Apples... I love it and I think we need to find a chef/cook to send this one too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

So 2 things I love about this quilt. <br />
<br />
1. I love the Vintage Modern Fabric Range<br />
2. I'm giving it to someone who is very special to me..... It's a secret ATM<br />
<br />
I made up the layout myself. I used a charm pack of Vintage Modern, a charm pack of Bella Solids White, a couple of mini charm pack of Vintage Modern and the border was done in one of the fabrics from the range.<br />
<br />
The lovely Carolynne did a wonderful job quilting it for me in a lovely panto.... can't think of the name right now .... will update<br />

<br />
I've been absent for a while again... too much to do.<br />
<br />
Here is a quick post about some bags I have been making over the last month..<br />
<br />
I have been loving "Under the Australian Sun Fabric" you can see the theme in these bags. Oh also I've had enough of bags for a while... they can be a bit fiddly.<br />
<br />
The first one is a little sewing bag. Here is a shot of the front and the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPzyFxrYYSR-t6El9iSdNR5Ns8zSeztfjNw8vM_4rRai4_dy266ujGozOdzlvOTVrkJ-ZNAjVIgrZnpmKjnLuJmdJQpJMY4zo1XmWvtRkCiYSBbi1WzobtL3jAy4t5d2eYt5VCrxP3GDql/s1600/Sewing+Bag+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPzyFxrYYSR-t6El9iSdNR5Ns8zSeztfjNw8vM_4rRai4_dy266ujGozOdzlvOTVrkJ-ZNAjVIgrZnpmKjnLuJmdJQpJMY4zo1XmWvtRkCiYSBbi1WzobtL3jAy4t5d2eYt5VCrxP3GDql/s320/Sewing+Bag+front.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The next one is a little Hand Sewing Organiser.. It has some nice little compartments and a pin cushion in the centre.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

The last one is a nice big tote for carrying everything to class. Still needs a little hand stitching on this one.</div>

<br />
I can now reveal what I have been finishing off for Mum's present. I had a quilt top that I made back in 1987 at a Tafe Course. There was no rotary cutters it was all done with pencil lines and scissors. I had even started to hand quilt it, and that's where it stopped.... It has lived in the top of wardrobes and old cupboards for ooohh I don't know about 25 years LOL.. Wow when you say it like that it' a lot. <br />
<br />
Well everytime I have talked to Mum since I started doing patchwork and quilts in the last year or so she has been saying "when are you going to finish that one up in the top of my wardrobe??". So today Mum I presented it to you as your Mothers Day present. Never to be hidden in the top of a wardrobe again. <br />
<br />
The only thing I am disappointed with myself is that I didn't take a before shot. So first off it was huge. It started off 107" X 107" and I had made it like a bedspread. Pillow section at the top... long sides. It also had about 5 blocks of hand stitching. I started reverse stitching and gave the top and the backing a wash and took everything over to Carolynne's house for some advise and a costing to quit the top for me.<br />
<br />
After more reverse stitching and resizing we ended up with a quilt 80"x80". She used the fantasia panto as there was a lot of blank spacing that I had left for hand quilting some feathers. When she was finished quilting it...it was a masterpiece. Once again she is a master !!! As I said I had originally made it as a bedspread so after the reverse stitching I ended up with 2 blocks that I made into continental pillows<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the finished quilt and pillows on Mum's bed.</div>

<br />
These two were made by other sewer in the group and I helped by quilting and binding them. The first one I called the African Quilt<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZLSkj0RaLbXxTLSofeXLbM_RJLEHgBck38JXW9DUhHlpWfyjf_xRw9Y5ytnWafIWCMlzFw94hCner8GtZoScc4Y1HCdGsLLeAGtpdj9Fz17_qrES2WCQQmblkOlCyng1bYPJgMftUXbKj/s1600/african+quilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZLSkj0RaLbXxTLSofeXLbM_RJLEHgBck38JXW9DUhHlpWfyjf_xRw9Y5ytnWafIWCMlzFw94hCner8GtZoScc4Y1HCdGsLLeAGtpdj9Fz17_qrES2WCQQmblkOlCyng1bYPJgMftUXbKj/s320/african+quilt.jpg" width="204" /></a></div>
This was posted with the Anzac Day posting with some goodies for it's recipient. The next one was a lovely Australian Fabric one made by Claire and I did a little free motion on some random blocks as well as some straight quilting. This ended up as a Wounded Warrior Quilt and is now waiting in the hospital to be given to an Australian Soldier when they are injured and they are sent on to Germany (here's hoping this is not too soon!) You can read about it and see it on the hospital bed waiting <a href="http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/one-of-our-wounded-warrior-quilts-has.html">here</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjElZj8SQfAGnFvm_k6SNJXi5d5r1JM-3Lpy9MDubjf_5WDt2GyHaXrxQAv81-KlrF831NSlck81wRYT_DzEdyC_SG7i_K1L7LiiT5KwqtY8sAX-IYMiouNvAvViu5ywDjAPUd7SFPHi5cV/s1600/Aussie+quilt+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjElZj8SQfAGnFvm_k6SNJXi5d5r1JM-3Lpy9MDubjf_5WDt2GyHaXrxQAv81-KlrF831NSlck81wRYT_DzEdyC_SG7i_K1L7LiiT5KwqtY8sAX-IYMiouNvAvViu5ywDjAPUd7SFPHi5cV/s320/Aussie+quilt+(2).jpg" width="204" /></a></div>
This is a close up of my free motion on one of the blocks... I am still learning.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA897wzEDhi7FyjjfM3y7B5fLfYz0DULiMJ9_QH3rNb-V_U52XTVfbhxv9CyvBPnoLiD4V4ZLiKkzuSqhlEcGH9SjQGlF0YCFUT92js-SKJTt9FfdYlbdHE-zV8WCYRYCPj4w3glWDvydj/s1600/close+up+aussie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA897wzEDhi7FyjjfM3y7B5fLfYz0DULiMJ9_QH3rNb-V_U52XTVfbhxv9CyvBPnoLiD4V4ZLiKkzuSqhlEcGH9SjQGlF0YCFUT92js-SKJTt9FfdYlbdHE-zV8WCYRYCPj4w3glWDvydj/s320/close+up+aussie.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The next two I made the tops, quilted and bound myself and sent off in the Anzac Day posting with some goodies. The first one I called Pirate Patch, and it was a disappearing 9 patch pattern.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdXPvDh75XvmfiK8aT1BCBL3H3W87GwbVNaMVt0KMBHCvlQKuf1drb6fQS16oqpVJuyiWJivu6RSsBIprjy5sxFNTybltAUh_UJebQqvkILOOEu8brDF9OeKxRlEIJUtDxaFcTeUbglmdk/s320/pirate+patch.jpg" width="212" /></div>
<br />
The next one I love as the red really stands out. Called Red Diamond.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI_wlaTJEEm3cq1FyiGyDi-WdMBQ6IKHNUjD4MreXx3ckBvlCYJ1EkXZ0DftHgy9Z_f-LbvjTTWEsoY5y4i1W4OdEZlefV3G2hHQUx_09mp5HkJWlM-6sh4NMm0t2U5UARiviIRbdmuc9C/s1600/red+diamond.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI_wlaTJEEm3cq1FyiGyDi-WdMBQ6IKHNUjD4MreXx3ckBvlCYJ1EkXZ0DftHgy9Z_f-LbvjTTWEsoY5y4i1W4OdEZlefV3G2hHQUx_09mp5HkJWlM-6sh4NMm0t2U5UARiviIRbdmuc9C/s320/red+diamond.jpg" width="206" /></a></div>
And of course their packages wouldn't be complete without their laundry bags to accompany the quilts. So here are the three that I made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-NFpBPvhE-zuSmvkSajegwTgJNapGB7hyOYCt6e79xOIeUrXv13zk0qEGJeQtccdVTlZcMeYQbw6uIQi3Kou4co6HRM3SXpHBfsHvvxPtTs5mnXy48IvqjAr_yFkD6GqjN7T6eD_-yMyp/s1600/laundry+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-NFpBPvhE-zuSmvkSajegwTgJNapGB7hyOYCt6e79xOIeUrXv13zk0qEGJeQtccdVTlZcMeYQbw6uIQi3Kou4co6HRM3SXpHBfsHvvxPtTs5mnXy48IvqjAr_yFkD6GqjN7T6eD_-yMyp/s320/laundry+bag.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
After they were sent out I felt very satisfied, as I'm sure we all did, that the group was able to get so many quilts and laundry bags over to the troops.<br />
<br />
And then on the 1st of May I received the most wonderful email from a female soldier that had received one of my quilts, laundry bags. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy. The quilt had made it's way to Egypt to where she was serving. You can read her email that Jan-Maree shared on the blog for all to enjoy. <a href="http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/sorting-folding-cutting-and-thank-you.html">Soldiers Email</a><br />
<br />
So of course this has inspired me again and here is a couple of sneek peaks of some new quilt tops I am working on<br />

The only star I have to finish is the Woven Star. I am on a mission to complete these before my group get together on Thursday so I can spread out the stars and get the top together. If anyone is in the Penrith Area NSW and wants to join a group of lovely ladies for some stitching on a Thursday from 10 til 2 please leave me a comment and I could send you the details. We don't have a teacher we just get together and stitch, saying that on occasions we do invite a teacher to come a show us a thing or too !!</div>

It's been too longWell I have finally found some time (made some time) to do a little catch up. I am going to do it over a number of posts so I don't make them all long winded.<br />
<br />
Lots of things have been happening and been completed. My sister has even asked me to show her how to quilt and is onto her second ...yes second lap quilt. I found a quilt that I started in the 80's and I will show you that in a later post.<br />
<br />
But first here is my pride and joy all bound and hanging on the wall. I still can't thank Carolynne enough for the wonderful job she did in quilting this baby. We are going to enter it into the machine quilters quilt show later in the year as a combined effort. So if you have any ideas for a name please email or leave a comment !!<br />

I'm not sure if that's what happens when you hang them but it sort of bows in the middle. Maybe it will drop out ??<br />

<br />
I've been a busy bee since the last post. I spent a lovely day with Jan-Maree on the 2nd March helping out for the Aussie Hero Quilts project. Here is the <a href="http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/">link</a> if you haven't seen the good work that Jan-Maree has started. Lots of other lovely ladies have jumped on board and there will be lots of quilts and laundry bags and goodies being posted out to the troops from the 15th March.<br />
<br />
On my visit I helped finish off 7 laundry bags. When I got home I felt I could whip them up with my eyes closed, so I made two to go with the two quilts I an sending from here. Here is a picture of how they turned out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WBn5-JmYUKyGQM2mKjq_oTko8hbepwCb-tOZPI2FtjEtptJxhB8Q_3SisUxNcf2f8J_tG-euYqygRXBCerAqELUyBZP3vQgYq1wrriONSLj17xOuHY2Tsnra7-v1fIPb4_9ZDRdQocD4/s1600/laundry+bags.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WBn5-JmYUKyGQM2mKjq_oTko8hbepwCb-tOZPI2FtjEtptJxhB8Q_3SisUxNcf2f8J_tG-euYqygRXBCerAqELUyBZP3vQgYq1wrriONSLj17xOuHY2Tsnra7-v1fIPb4_9ZDRdQocD4/s320/laundry+bags.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I have now prewashed them ready for the soldiers... just have to thread in the cording.<br />
Whilst I was at Jan-Maree's I showed her my 2 latest quilt tops, and I decided that I would take them back home and quilt and bind them myself. So tonight I have completed them. Here they are.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqvMlfyYLaxb9d4XkBs1SRalxd1peYpw9vIWsWVZqzd6bZNR5CkzUFsdEe1cw3iHzPJjvfuHUfNFgsV2VT605cvEEdUil9JT__RO1Md-NMyarKTocC6IGO92Z_JZKts9RifkrgvZyJj1E_/s1600/Blue+Hero+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqvMlfyYLaxb9d4XkBs1SRalxd1peYpw9vIWsWVZqzd6bZNR5CkzUFsdEe1cw3iHzPJjvfuHUfNFgsV2VT605cvEEdUil9JT__RO1Md-NMyarKTocC6IGO92Z_JZKts9RifkrgvZyJj1E_/s320/Blue+Hero+1.jpg" width="204" /></a> A Nice Male One</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Y07zGe8E50_ycwVNtTeWpqGUMG1cJxHdePq4ADrXUMWDg8MMDv0alHKPrCMLb8lVYGSstuhYYI8Xru_epBD_yMH2DoCQQnxfBCm3x5Jm5OATKeYU78iUX9ggO4oAKGqrhCTtbdlb0aXc/s1600/Pink+Hero+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Y07zGe8E50_ycwVNtTeWpqGUMG1cJxHdePq4ADrXUMWDg8MMDv0alHKPrCMLb8lVYGSstuhYYI8Xru_epBD_yMH2DoCQQnxfBCm3x5Jm5OATKeYU78iUX9ggO4oAKGqrhCTtbdlb0aXc/s320/Pink+Hero+1.jpg" width="204" /></a> A Girly One</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Not a great day for photo's so I had to hang these sideways under my awning... so the colours aren't looking the best, but you get the idea.<br />
<br />
So I am all ready to fold them up add some goodies and send off !!<br />
<br />
My Oh My Stars Quilt a long is getting there I have finished 2 more stars. The Exploding Star and the Quattro Stagioni Star... Here are the pics... again the lighting is not the best sorry<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAm_Z6_Bn_poLdo84oLlFIEJQeB8KuPhxa2Jrsoqc218XKU8y4n7pcrFQ8LWlSjw2Gwr26a1bmFIX3XtJtzgfM5IebNOTToAI6ui2EQsClJfwaBFu1smmMfXqKN2yyRIon0NxCWGjzw1Zh/s1600/exploding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAm_Z6_Bn_poLdo84oLlFIEJQeB8KuPhxa2Jrsoqc218XKU8y4n7pcrFQ8LWlSjw2Gwr26a1bmFIX3XtJtzgfM5IebNOTToAI6ui2EQsClJfwaBFu1smmMfXqKN2yyRIon0NxCWGjzw1Zh/s320/exploding.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So they are coming along... only 5 other types of stars to go. The quilt a long has a linky party set for 31st March to show off finished quilts... Fingers crossed I have at least the quilt top together by then !!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have decided that I will cut out all the bits and pieces for the rest of the 5 sets of stars and start a big production line to get them all done together. Thats my plan we'll see how that works out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I bought some fabric for the backing on this quilt on-line some lovely Michael Miller fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjThn8PyiUAF3k4OHv3xOPgAX_bN2Qsj3nyZygm15R_MFLp2scu0FJkAsezvtFdCXzNrlt6RIdRIGLIoBJcv93qpb8L0g8HAMwou5O1WkfKfjWWFcHsjgu0hkUc6DsP0jFf6rFDh5iwaeF/s1600/oh+my+stars+backing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjThn8PyiUAF3k4OHv3xOPgAX_bN2Qsj3nyZygm15R_MFLp2scu0FJkAsezvtFdCXzNrlt6RIdRIGLIoBJcv93qpb8L0g8HAMwou5O1WkfKfjWWFcHsjgu0hkUc6DsP0jFf6rFDh5iwaeF/s320/oh+my+stars+backing.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Carolynne and I went to the Stitches and Craft show and I bought some stripes that I thought might work for the binding. </div><br />

Stay tuned.<br />
<br />
On Monday I went to a class at my local Hobbysew. It was a class on how to make the most of your Bernina 440. I had a good time and we had to make a cushion using an invisible zipper and then the front was done using different stitches on your machine, triple needling, couching.. etc etc. Well in the end I made mine into a lovely bag. Here are some shots. I made the zipper into a pocket at the back. I love it ... my first bag.<br />

On my last blog post I showed the five quilt tops I finished for Aussie Hero Quilts. I have since gone on a visit to Jan-Maree's place to help with quilting 14 quilts that the group had pinned ready to go. See me in action here <a href="http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/14-quilts-waiting-to-be-quilted.html">Caz helping Out</a> . It's still not too late to join in. Here is a picture of one of the soldiers holding his quilt and if you click the link under him you will be directed to the blog.<br />

<br />
Last week while I was blog hopping I found a great blog my a lovely lady called Jan-Maree.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com/">AUSSIE HERO QUILTS</a></div><div style="text-align: left;">Jan and her quilting buddies are making quilts and laundry bags for the troops in Afghanistan as it is quite cold over there at the moment, and also to show that Aussie are thinking of them.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">After looking into what I could do, I found a blog entry showing how to help. After uncovering some fabric... and some Aussie teatowels ... I took to the sewing machine. So over the last week I have put together 5 quilt tops for Jan-Maree and the Gumnut gang. Here is the picture combo of them all. The lighting wasn't the best.... Can't get outside because it won't stop raining!!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYTs1FmtTtehM_0a3qTql9xAr7qW6YczuEboYJ5lmSqLSlBh8VCUPuQrZUO7SKe6vF8G2NxukRw0R-IZ4EkhgRvSLCbDQ1Gh_x5-h-pPeLsIpuaLXyf8iCZYD20xHw-TA_Tk9pDWY4J973/s1600/aussie+hero+quilts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYTs1FmtTtehM_0a3qTql9xAr7qW6YczuEboYJ5lmSqLSlBh8VCUPuQrZUO7SKe6vF8G2NxukRw0R-IZ4EkhgRvSLCbDQ1Gh_x5-h-pPeLsIpuaLXyf8iCZYD20xHw-TA_Tk9pDWY4J973/s320/aussie+hero+quilts.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">So these will be headed off to Jan-Maree next week for completion and postage off to the Aussie Heros in Afghanistan. Great idea and keep up the good work guys !!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">On another note I picked up my fully quilted "World Traveller" from Carolynne today and it was just as special in person. I am now going to work on binding in before Thursday next week. That will be our first week back to class/gathering as the "Nine Patch Quilters". Since Michelle Marvig closed her shop last year alot of us wanted to stay together as a group, so we did a bit of investigating and found a nice community centre where we will hold our weekly get togethers.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Oh My God---- Oh My Stars quilt-a-long is full steam ahead... I have completed 4 of the different stars and in the last week or two 5 more blocks have gone up... Wow I know what I'll be up to for the next couple of weeks.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Til next time </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Cheers</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div>I have decided it is time to put the binding on. I have a few ideas for some free-motion quilting around the embroidery and along some of the sashing... but... a bit more practice is required first !!<br />
<br />
I have also been working on a few stars for the Oh My Stars Quilt-a-long. I have completed variation 3 - The wonky star, I only did the large 12" block with this variation because all the little bits & pieces were driving me insane LOL. Here are a few pictures<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoyUwU6xAtDqNyQnytPulwBQeSxTgurrBecJqsY8jjASToOzDo4ld4tSzP-yzVNJHnBfRNq0Gbsb4UWPm3-soreO7T1lNft5RwNatwTNBbcUxHysUqvzs9Lt9YR0kC8eaSP0o7VX98zMMQ/s1600/omystarsNo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoyUwU6xAtDqNyQnytPulwBQeSxTgurrBecJqsY8jjASToOzDo4ld4tSzP-yzVNJHnBfRNq0Gbsb4UWPm3-soreO7T1lNft5RwNatwTNBbcUxHysUqvzs9Lt9YR0kC8eaSP0o7VX98zMMQ/s320/omystarsNo3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

With this one I did some fussy cutting and I love this one best so far.<br />

</div>The light wasn't the best for the last shot. So far I have compled 32 stars. There are 8 of each star variation. Here is a shot of all 4 of the 12" blocks... Starting to look good.<br />

Work has kept me pretty busy..... so my progress on my free-motion quilting is a little slow. Oh well back to it.<br />

Happy Sewing<br />

<br />
Here's hoping all those new years resolutions are kept past the end of the week !!<br />
<br />
I thought I'd post some of the presents that I completed for Christmas, since everyone has their gifts now.<br />
<br />
The first one is Mum's table runner. I have only quilted in the ditch so far, but I have told her when my FMQ improves I will do some detailing. The binding wasn't the best. This is only the 2nd thing I have bound, and I know how to perfect if for next time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XJ5jJFXWFPE/TwEV78Ea7qI/AAAAAAAAAHc/tr0OTS-2u-g/s1600/mums+runner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XJ5jJFXWFPE/TwEV78Ea7qI/AAAAAAAAAHc/tr0OTS-2u-g/s320/mums+runner.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Mum loved it and it has pride of place on her dining table. Even if I wrapped it still with 4 pins and the needle as I still hadn't finished the hand sewing before she arrived on Xmas Day. With her arrival only 10 mins away, I couldn't risk not having it wrapped. Funny to see her hand sewing her own present whilst I finished lunch.<br />
<br />
The next one is a travel/make-up bag I made for my teacher Michelle Marvig, who sadly closed her shop and finished her classes in December. It is made from the fabric she designed and is laminate!!. Turned out so well I made one for myself. Michelle said she could even use it to carry around some handsewing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xoyLzNA5MR8/TwEXxenpWpI/AAAAAAAAAHo/0uP4Q_dfbJ8/s1600/travel+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xoyLzNA5MR8/TwEXxenpWpI/AAAAAAAAAHo/0uP4Q_dfbJ8/s320/travel+bag.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The third one is a little gift I made for my friend Carolynne, who is going to quilt my quilt on her long arm machine for me. I know she doesn't like my choices of bright colours so I made her a nice Burgandy Pear Pin Cushion (pattern by Heather Bailey). I love it so I will definately be making some bright ones for me. There is also an apple one.... I am envisioning a fabric fruit bowl full of bright fabric fruit pin cushions !!! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Ea4LfIyjxk/TwEYfINdPII/AAAAAAAAAH0/2b3hPp9fb0Q/s1600/burgandy+pear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Ea4LfIyjxk/TwEYfINdPII/AAAAAAAAAH0/2b3hPp9fb0Q/s320/burgandy+pear.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>So yesterday I finished all the components for my World Traveller quilt (the backing, cut the batting, photocopied the picture) and headed over to Carolynne's place to pass it over to her wonderful capable hands to quilt. We went over the design and picked out how she is going to quilt it. Whatever she chooses to do will be perfect. Now I just need to be patient !!<br />
<br />
So if you have been reading my blog you know that I have taken a pledge to do the 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge (see button on left). The first challenge was posted and it is a leaf design. <br />
Last year I did a few classes of FMQ with Debra Louie, so I got out my practice sandwiches and started to have a go. I used the BSR function, because I couldn't quite get the stitches right without it. Anyway practice, practice, practice. Here are some shots of my practice<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dbfUUm4LJE0/TwEeCI8QxoI/AAAAAAAAAIA/OrVuDc8eQTg/s1600/fmq+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dbfUUm4LJE0/TwEeCI8QxoI/AAAAAAAAAIA/OrVuDc8eQTg/s320/fmq+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Wvp9aPbfVn8/TwEeEkT77VI/AAAAAAAAAII/a2oUQG1-moE/s1600/fmq+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Wvp9aPbfVn8/TwEeEkT77VI/AAAAAAAAAII/a2oUQG1-moE/s320/fmq+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BNBopLoA-g4/TwEeNBFPb0I/AAAAAAAAAIY/RtQogmj2h14/s1600/fmq+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BNBopLoA-g4/TwEeNBFPb0I/AAAAAAAAAIY/RtQogmj2h14/s320/fmq+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRsTyPRfFHo/TwEeQUIZMHI/AAAAAAAAAIg/1zeRftAPRQE/s1600/fmq+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRsTyPRfFHo/TwEeQUIZMHI/AAAAAAAAAIg/1zeRftAPRQE/s320/fmq+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lfaesuxzAow/TwEeSzlZRZI/AAAAAAAAAIo/2IrftqBkIgM/s1600/fmq+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lfaesuxzAow/TwEeSzlZRZI/AAAAAAAAAIo/2IrftqBkIgM/s320/fmq+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I also follow Leah Day's Blog and today she is also starting a "Free Motion Quilting Project 2012". It seems like it will be fun to follow along. But the best part was hee words. "Shut Up and Quilt" LOL It made me think... You have to start on something soon.... So I searched through my stuff and found a project I made at least 15 years ago... I had done some hand quilting on it, but I thought... Just quilt it!<br />
So I did some stippling. I am really happy with the outcome. Here she is<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ItuS2Rh0S5Y/TwEiUKIcfhI/AAAAAAAAAJA/0bxtG2F0MQA/s1600/guardian+angel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ItuS2Rh0S5Y/TwEiUKIcfhI/AAAAAAAAAJA/0bxtG2F0MQA/s320/guardian+angel.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PvaDGIGeZkM/TwEiW-wCldI/AAAAAAAAAJI/Vj2VI3MHG0M/s1600/guardian+angel+close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PvaDGIGeZkM/TwEiW-wCldI/AAAAAAAAAJI/Vj2VI3MHG0M/s320/guardian+angel+close.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Any way seize the day and the quilt. I am going to get out the Tail Feathers Quilt and have a play.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-trxoecRX51Q/TvvGneeEGkI/AAAAAAAAAGw/qKpZsM0cDWc/s1600/Xmas+Cooking.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-trxoecRX51Q/TvvGneeEGkI/AAAAAAAAAGw/qKpZsM0cDWc/s320/Xmas+Cooking.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Here is a picture of some of my christmas cooking. Gingerbread Men, Fruit Mince Slice, Xmas Tree shortbreads and Chocolate Cake Balls. All very yummy!!<br />
<br />
Had a lovely day with the family and got a new sewing table and a Jeeves mini steam iron, amongst other lovely goodies. Once I got the table I was inspired to clean up a bit in the sewing room, re-arange tables and desks.. Lots of stuff got packed into plastic storage containers, probably never to be opened again LOL.. Mainly other crafts and stuff you try along the way. I might have to sell some goodies on Ebay. Here is a picture of the new table and workspace.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IR-0peXK5rY/TvvIcpLThUI/AAAAAAAAAG8/qR_ul3WRRm8/s1600/new+table+best.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IR-0peXK5rY/TvvIcpLThUI/AAAAAAAAAG8/qR_ul3WRRm8/s320/new+table+best.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I am busy working on a few new projects and also finishing up some others from during the year. I have signed up for 2 online projects. One is a quilt-a-long called <a href="http://thoughtandfound.wordpress.com/oh-my-stars/">"Oh My Stars"</a>. I have done the first 2 weeks homework. Here are the photos of my stars. For the finished quilt we will do approx 110 stars.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y71Ue6m7pOc/TvvK3ZdOGQI/AAAAAAAAAHI/vU02SfG6-lI/s1600/omystars+week1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y71Ue6m7pOc/TvvK3ZdOGQI/AAAAAAAAAHI/vU02SfG6-lI/s320/omystars+week1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<br />
I will still be attending a class (with not teacher) with the ladies from my Thursday class from the Patchwork Heart,starting in February, so I will be looking for a new challenge to do with them. I am also going to sign up for a Debra Louie 's Spring Floral Applique monthly class, with an afternoon of free motion quilting. <a href="http://deblouie.blogspot.com/">Here is a link</a>.<br />
<br />
OK so that's all I got for now. I'm off to trim my trupunto and make my backing for my big quilt, as I am going to see Carolynne shortly to get the quilting underway.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing<br />

<br />
What a week !!<br />
<br />
I have managed to get alot of things progressed this week.<br />
<br />
My Vingnette Block 1 has only 5 more satin stitched flowers to do. I was ready to complete it this afternoon while I was waiting at the school to pick up the kids. Then disaster struck.... I popped the needle in my mouth for a second whilst I went to grab the floss, the needle dropped out and went down beside the seat.... AHHHH it was the only one I had with me ..... So that was that.... Oh well there is always tomorrow afternoon.<br />
<br />
I have pieced together Block 2 & 3.... Here is a quick pic<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY-RCe3YdzEI7hczzCay3DNux0gI1eawIhB-jKiWaiyrEgvftXqzFBEy3AAgc4LiySGqHpWXMSwvl7oSpcO-3IbY1V4OcyFL8l0vgQm5Bw7GML79cvnNpBV6rkY1sjU9rio73cUNb_Cnr3/s1600/Block2+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY-RCe3YdzEI7hczzCay3DNux0gI1eawIhB-jKiWaiyrEgvftXqzFBEy3AAgc4LiySGqHpWXMSwvl7oSpcO-3IbY1V4OcyFL8l0vgQm5Bw7GML79cvnNpBV6rkY1sjU9rio73cUNb_Cnr3/s320/Block2+3.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div>I added a litle woodland fabric by Natalie Lymer... Can you see the mushroom houses... No... OK here is a close up !! LOL<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg55Le_r17LS3HmdgOtqQNfzCNN3p4ujXe3tM8Vo729PzmSJvNZH-qxIuxWXyudRrccvct3StXoXyrvBWX_VwoyfgCB9kNs230YdxvLJAT7tfUpyBJhGWb7bG2JpAk6tdvbXYp3d24fyiQI/s1600/Block3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg55Le_r17LS3HmdgOtqQNfzCNN3p4ujXe3tM8Vo729PzmSJvNZH-qxIuxWXyudRrccvct3StXoXyrvBWX_VwoyfgCB9kNs230YdxvLJAT7tfUpyBJhGWb7bG2JpAk6tdvbXYp3d24fyiQI/s320/Block3.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div>There was quite a bit of fussy cutting... but I am loving how it turned out. Now I need to transfer the stitchery pattern and then start stitching this one.<br />
<br />
I have totally sewn together my Michelle Marvig quilt "World Traveller".... Oops I have previously been calling the pattern "Around the World". It is quite a large quilt so once sewn it has been very hard to get a full shot.... Here are my attempts.... In two shots on the floor...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD-Vu5s_g3PIj_qm3AlBC7eOl4TnsS6BF_2VC9YwWjU5zdq_CSkQdYgUb4mQYE17ng9MSVVSnJuToxina60YZ_rzm28YOHCOqIb4WPzipREzgSQb9BZvpyUoac8ST5bmR191DCB1jZ1xgZ/s1600/Left+side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD-Vu5s_g3PIj_qm3AlBC7eOl4TnsS6BF_2VC9YwWjU5zdq_CSkQdYgUb4mQYE17ng9MSVVSnJuToxina60YZ_rzm28YOHCOqIb4WPzipREzgSQb9BZvpyUoac8ST5bmR191DCB1jZ1xgZ/s320/Left+side.jpg" width="191px" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfQQ3qpP7tXQMeolP1Qk0zDAbM4DWThciXkowiNXyhRCnqc6xh1wXwyqCTD84-uSa0Cyke9jnPuQCiocZht2OF3V-Vxk97PJFLzmbofdeex5V2xhGlLUNLcG_oscf2U0JkOswIDaCBfOo0/s1600/right+side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfQQ3qpP7tXQMeolP1Qk0zDAbM4DWThciXkowiNXyhRCnqc6xh1wXwyqCTD84-uSa0Cyke9jnPuQCiocZht2OF3V-Vxk97PJFLzmbofdeex5V2xhGlLUNLcG_oscf2U0JkOswIDaCBfOo0/s320/right+side.jpg" width="191px" /></a><br />
Here is it hanging on my washing line... which was wound right up as far as it would go.... I had to put towels on the ground because it was dragging.... and of course as soon as I pegged it up the wind came up and made it very difficult to photograph.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwGHxkHEsHmKqBLBFuNWhkyOPlt2V6zxYGfGF1rot1Yoa_iG0-V9sP38bQO6N-znsihnaY3CkhgC4cWAaP8A1TFC2wBEEZ9obrI2TEcWCH3hXXKMnD1TDGt1tRoqAoJSP_om0jsxMrdsaZ/s1600/full+pic+of+world+traveller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwGHxkHEsHmKqBLBFuNWhkyOPlt2V6zxYGfGF1rot1Yoa_iG0-V9sP38bQO6N-znsihnaY3CkhgC4cWAaP8A1TFC2wBEEZ9obrI2TEcWCH3hXXKMnD1TDGt1tRoqAoJSP_om0jsxMrdsaZ/s320/full+pic+of+world+traveller.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div>While I was taking the pictures Hunnigirl was running around barking at the man she could hear in the front garden reading my electricity metre... AHHHH.... The funny thing is her running out from behind the quilt just as I take the photograph.... Peek a boo....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvo9GeEwwXqYFOnq3We9kpjRvt5LeXB0lFASxNny86-19zoNGESDY-_VCE5d6L-pyp0jZzh9NMCCCnDA_WlzGHx7ADPO1HJk8FJgbRKyM28sbFIDZwY0KeW-ozXnOD-1dUn952bUis0iSg/s1600/peek+a+boo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvo9GeEwwXqYFOnq3We9kpjRvt5LeXB0lFASxNny86-19zoNGESDY-_VCE5d6L-pyp0jZzh9NMCCCnDA_WlzGHx7ADPO1HJk8FJgbRKyM28sbFIDZwY0KeW-ozXnOD-1dUn952bUis0iSg/s320/peek+a+boo.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div>I spent all day today working on the trupunto dresden designs on the quilt ready for class tomorrow.<br />
<br />
I am ready to trim up tomorrow, and also work on a surprise Xmas present for my Mum !! I'll leave it at that in case she is reading this and post a picture after Xmas.<br />

</div>It has been a while since my last post. So many things have been going on that I have found it hard to stop and write it down. My Mum went into hospital for a routine back op and has spent the last month still in there as things have gone wrong, it has been very scary for us and for her. She is alot better now, even though she is still in hospital and fingers crossed she will be home by Friday.<br />
<br />
So on to my projects.... Here is some pictures of my Around the World quilt up on the design wall in class.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUV3wOYz5_aaqEstV-h4svnu3K-mH4hychco7JgZafHruUApnESDDf139incECUSIh-14OrPM4ZFh6zEyPD42OO6VWMV6pph7qyy8SPRUa4Hs9Fc2tyIRHK5aU8sytPgslwZvGN8yqT385/s1600/round+the+world+on+the+wall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUV3wOYz5_aaqEstV-h4svnu3K-mH4hychco7JgZafHruUApnESDDf139incECUSIh-14OrPM4ZFh6zEyPD42OO6VWMV6pph7qyy8SPRUa4Hs9Fc2tyIRHK5aU8sytPgslwZvGN8yqT385/s320/round+the+world+on+the+wall.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>All thats left to do now is the outer dog tooth border, I am 3/4 way through that and hope to have it all together for class on Thursday. I have bought the wadding and the fabric for my backing, I am going to get my lovely friend Carolynne to quilt this beauty for me. Here is a picture of Michelle Marvig's orginal design showing her quilting, there is a bit of trupunto (is that how you spell it??) on it. I am not sure exactly how I am going to have it quilted yet .....we'll see.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizZ-yJjwXgDqJ8_24f34T7OeV3OOmlPEJZ9PyDlUdjyW4iaoQ-YA8_udTucPnt2YfO4F8eyPpP6aIRWoo4ZpfOo2YZpBepakab-9sNkVVRdap-q61mwTSvSUn0ckXxf7zdUk-VrlSOe5D1/s1600/michelles+quilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizZ-yJjwXgDqJ8_24f34T7OeV3OOmlPEJZ9PyDlUdjyW4iaoQ-YA8_udTucPnt2YfO4F8eyPpP6aIRWoo4ZpfOo2YZpBepakab-9sNkVVRdap-q61mwTSvSUn0ckXxf7zdUk-VrlSOe5D1/s320/michelles+quilt.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Alas the Tail feathers quilt hasn't had any more quilting done by me yet, but definately soon I promise.<br />
<br />
Another project under construction is my Vignette Mystery quilt. I am using the Monica Solorio-Snow "Happy Mochi Yum Yum" fabric. It's a 16 block quilt designed by Leanne from <a href="http://leanneshouse.typepad.com/leanneshouse/">Leanne's House</a>, the patterns are released through her Vignette Magazines. I have only just started so although the magazine is up to Issue 4 and eight block patterns, I have only sewn together Block 1 and am still completing the embroidery. Here are a few pictures.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigATzcvFX7Q2ZH6VnafSpnsT35XZo3UZYK66eRKPYIx_FfnC4qKo7IUDHf5FSZEa1_C1JJnrPpYQakpKPNYi3kEWngVOC8R9ZWIF4kIyJCFZjQ7QfkOHJzCKaxRkeGpbzMH3FLIDOynJIa/s1600/Vignette+progress+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigATzcvFX7Q2ZH6VnafSpnsT35XZo3UZYK66eRKPYIx_FfnC4qKo7IUDHf5FSZEa1_C1JJnrPpYQakpKPNYi3kEWngVOC8R9ZWIF4kIyJCFZjQ7QfkOHJzCKaxRkeGpbzMH3FLIDOynJIa/s320/Vignette+progress+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Here is block 1 traced out and started to be completed.<br />

In the quilt there are 60 shoo-fly blocks. I can report that these have been all sewn together. I hope to have the next two blocks together by the end of the week also. <br />
<br />
All going well that is ... fingers crossed.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing <br />

<br />
So here is a couple of full shots - Well as much as I can get in whilst cramped inside at 10 o'clock at night.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK0WJsocoBc_iNijxqexZjtt9vBNp6DtGw3AutcSJ6S88Um37sjf4d4bHd-u0KeDaWtci-ynZ1KD4ziD236V1RIKiaOxH0Ro2WJJxDTz4LcU0H-OiDVZ2FnEuDcLzhPNldF2bOAKY-OAur/s1600/full+quilt+shot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK0WJsocoBc_iNijxqexZjtt9vBNp6DtGw3AutcSJ6S88Um37sjf4d4bHd-u0KeDaWtci-ynZ1KD4ziD236V1RIKiaOxH0Ro2WJJxDTz4LcU0H-OiDVZ2FnEuDcLzhPNldF2bOAKY-OAur/s320/full+quilt+shot.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><br />

Here are some close ups.<br />

I need to do a class to do some free motion quilting because I do need to outline the features in the stitcheries and add a bit of texture I think.<br />
<br />
So as I said on my last post I do a class on a Thursday afternoon with Michelle Marvig, and once I had begun quilting my Tail feathers I started on my next project "World Traveller"one of Michelle's patterns. I decided to do this as a wall hanging for my lounge room and chose to do it in chocolates and aqua. I have just about completed the quilt top, I only have to do the foundation piecing of the dog tooth border. Here are some shots.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSPduO6bce-Mbpp3RsZpI1eMIDll_JzXLLemM3h-hlk9ZejU-BS9F84lt4joxfR2CfzqJjvnY-Yfdfc-t8FqA5p85EuQZwITsn6Ks54SDwGd5peVcSc0SYyLzbwEiSBcnUfbWIls__bJl9/s1600/round+the+world+quarter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSPduO6bce-Mbpp3RsZpI1eMIDll_JzXLLemM3h-hlk9ZejU-BS9F84lt4joxfR2CfzqJjvnY-Yfdfc-t8FqA5p85EuQZwITsn6Ks54SDwGd5peVcSc0SYyLzbwEiSBcnUfbWIls__bJl9/s320/round+the+world+quarter.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is one quarther of the quilt and the last dog tooth border with face in towards the other. I couldn't open it right out as there wasn't enough space. I will use the design wall in class tomorrow to try to get a full shot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40UajoXAcNOMmXP0_0mnUkrR0XzjAlrkFj0NmIID_PAj2NcUi8Q83LGUdXae8CDHAeZL8q1kCu-hPO_LAHFJrmahGIGCHlynoft7qoGrBG-4F7xL749tl-rPKuQCuOUYLu7PnqxsmTDV_/s320/round+the+world+closer.jpg" width="320" /></div><br />
There are two different backgrounds : a tiny spot (above) and a bigger spot (below)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRLYYa8MJALmOq6HoBV9t6RrWPVlBH-HzaEVKz0taGCzct45cmRNc1QW1zq5OlzCJdLYPKHtRinZbNZbntfimiql2ulakYD647UPhbKXJm2dhAdlDp-lXmzKrkTklsZPVIsLXXnDdy6RoY/s1600/round+the+world+close+up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRLYYa8MJALmOq6HoBV9t6RrWPVlBH-HzaEVKz0taGCzct45cmRNc1QW1zq5OlzCJdLYPKHtRinZbNZbntfimiql2ulakYD647UPhbKXJm2dhAdlDp-lXmzKrkTklsZPVIsLXXnDdy6RoY/s320/round+the+world+close+up.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>In the centre of the dresden I still have applique an aqua circle and then the brown medalion on top of that the same as between the points. I learned a lot of new techniques. I love foundation piecing, the preciseness is lovely.<br />
<br />
Anyway that's enough for now... gotta get ready for class tomorrow. I have also just posted on the Vignette in Stitches Blog ...... because yes I have yet another project on the go.... LOL.<br />
<br />
Have fun<br />

I have always loved to sew, any type of sewing. Dressmaking, embroidery, tapestry, cross stitch... dabbled in a little business making bridesmaid dresses for a while. I love to try any type of creative activity out there - Scrapbooking, Cardmaking, this list could go on and on. But I could never really settle on one thing til.....<br />
<br />
January this year there were terrible floods in QLD and whilst surfing the net reading blog after blog then looking at this link.... going to that link. I stumbled accross a blog belonging to Natalie Lymer of <a href="http://cinderberrystitches.typepad.com/">Cinderberry Stitches</a> . I was in love with her designs and whats that......patchwork & stitching together mmmmmm I want to do that !!<br />
<br />
The quilting online community had started a QLD flood relief auctions, where by bloggers would donate things which would be auctioned to the highest bidder and that bidder would donate the winning amount to the QLD flood relief. <br />
<br />
So this was for me and I bid and bid until it was mine... A full set of fabric and patterns for Natalie's Tail Feather's quilt design. Wow what a beaut package that was when it arrived.<br />
<br />
Now what do I do??? OK so I looked at the instructions and started on my way... Ummm excuse me I need help... So I set out about finding a class or someone to help me make this beautiful quilt. I stumbled into a shop called "The Patchwork Heart" and into the wonderful hands of Michelle Marvig. <br />
<br />
The adventure continued every Thursday for 3 hours and after a few months I finally had the whole lot of the lovely stitcheries done and all the blocks sewn together... Here are a few piccys of the progress..<br />

The quilt is all together and I have started to quilt in on my domestic machine it's coming along nicely... even though it is now OCTOBER and it is not fully completed. So yes my first project is I must admit officially a U F O !!<br />
<br />
Please people this craft should come with a warning ! You can't stop at one quilt, You can't stop with a few pieces of fabric. Every bit of yummy pattern, fabric, magazine, goodness, toy, or new fandangled tool must be bought !!!! AHHH I need it all.<br />
<br />
Well by the end of sewing the tail feathers quilt I had enough fabric and patterns to last me OOOHHH I don't know 2 years.<br />
<br />
So began the journey... stay tuned for the next installment<br />
